The Wonky Case Razor
Просмотров 308Месяц назад
Another of Cases 2024 vault knives that shouldn't have been shipped out. Although since making the video some gunk must've fell out of the knife and created a bunch of blade play, which I fixed and that helped get the blade a little more center and got rid of most of that huge gap. The blade is still angled or kinked off to one side though. Hence still wonky.

    You might think of doing what you tell others to do. If you don’t like Case knives, don’t buy them. What would you have to talk about if you didn’t have Case to complain about. Remember, you will be lucky to grow old. Once all the old Case Collectors are gone, guess that makes you next. 🤣😅😂😆👍

      But I just got a really good Case knife. I just want them to do better quality control. I still don't think we need trappers in 3,000 different handle materials, but that's my opinion. We all die eventually

    He's definitely a train engineer, not a conductor - if he was a conductor it would be a #33, nor a #32. It's Bill's wit at work again - the engineer ranks above the conductor on the railway, hence the #32 Engineer is a larger-scale version of the existing #33 Conductor pattern - same blade combo too. There's also a Northfield Hemlock Jigged Bone version coming - hope I get that one!

    Cool knife. I have something similar in a fish style knife. It has no markings but, is jigged bone handle with a similar locking mechanism, only the lever pulls back, not forward. Should have a couple of videos on my channel if you want to see it. Have a great day!

    The old Hen & Rooster was pretty good. After Frost acquired them, massive disappointment with some production coming out of China and Pakistan. The po afternoon was originally a specialized pen knife for people who wrote professionally, politicians, clerics, beaurocrat and the like. In the US the frame grew large for agricultural work, mainly tobacco and cotton. Lincolns 6 blade, while a novelty to us, was a practical tool in the day.

    They're bloody lovely, these. I got mine in Ebony, and because it's a Tidioute the blade is satin finished.. I figure the Elephant Toenail Clipper name is nothing to do with cutting your toenails (Bill's little joke), but a combination of Elephant Toenail (denoting the pattern, sometimes called a Sunfish instead) and Clipper, as in olden-days sailing ship, as these were sailor's rope knives - the Sheepfoot blade is traditional to a sailor's knife, because it is less likely to cause accidental injury.

    • @Walkingman.45
      @Walkingman.45 22 дня назад

      Check out Tobias Gibson sunfish /elephant toe nail videos, there is little to no evidence sailors used these knives for rope. They certainly didn’t in new englands whaling industry (Nantucket especially). Anyway it’s an awesome pattern, the India jigged bone with the elephant head shield is perfection.

    • @davids9549
      @davids9549 16 дней назад

      @@Walkingman.45 Yes, I saw Tobias's excellent video, and he's probably right about the rope thing - however, these ARE sailors' knives generally

    Thanks for the show and tell! I just received my AWS single-bladed spearpoint (gentleman's) jack in ebony a few weeks ago. James and Co sold out of them quick. The blade on mine appears to have two small dimples on one side as if it were clamped in a vice. Do your knives have any such minute bends in them?

    I own the Canoe version of that knife from SMKW. Interesting that the tang stamp on your knife has the Case S in the lightning bolt script, in spite of it being 1095 steel? I'm thinking of picking up the mini copperlock in Mahogany CS to match my full size trapper.
